Gig - Official Secrets Act at The Aftershow

This month at The Aftershow, we are delighted to welcome Official Secrets Act as our headliners. Their debut album ‘Understanding Electricity’ was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. It’s an album instilled with a real sense of Britishness, it even includes a tune dedicated to the most venerable of British institutions, ‘The Girl From The BBC’. Make sure you head to Moho Live to experience their Futureheads infused with XTC, spiky new wave pop first hand.

Returning to The Aftershow are The Tides. Built around the unique, androgynous voice of Liam Pennington (think Thom Yorke meets Anthony and the Johnsons), the Tides play music that sounds as epic, soaring and windswept as The Pennines where it was composed.

The C-Dub Soundtrack will be bringing something different to The Aftershow this week. A band brought together by a mutual love of old school hip hop, but also influenced by jazz, funk, drum n bass and ska amongst other genres. Their motto is "if music is the food of love then grab a little bit of everything and stuff your face with it until you have to loosen you belt". Make sure you come with an appetite!

Fragile Audio are a four piece from Salford who play their own individual style of retro, indie rock. Their music has been described as epic and psychedelic with catchy melodies and thought provoking lyrics.

Completing the line up we have Highwired, Vinyl Youth & The Miserable.

And as always we have man about town, DJ Martin McGhee playing floor-fillers before, in between, and after the bands.

In the 2nd room Invention presents The Way, Disco Nasties, The Locals, I Am Ten Ninja, Selfish Lovers, The Patterns and The Blackout Band to come along and provide the music.

The second room will also play host to ‘The Late One’. After all the bands have finished, where do you go? We at The Aftershow are turning the second room at Moho Live into the coolest party in Manchester. This week we have DJ Sean Holland providing the tunes until the early morning. It’s getting late and you’re wondering where to go… now you know!!

Advance tickets for August 28th can be bought at Seetickets until 4pm on the day of the gig. Bring ticket confirmation with you and pick them up when you arrive at the venue on the night.
