Metamusic started as four friends, friends for over five years, a band for three. There was not a great deal to be done in our County of Durham, besides chasing shadows and playing music in Church halls, at least not for us. Music was always important to us. Neil was made to sit at a piano as soon as he was able; Chris tried his hand at almost every instrument, and Phil and Johnny loved to perform at any given moment

Our influences vary but are rooted in the instrumental and being able to describe without words. I think you can tell a lot about us from the music that we listen to. Bored of living in the shadow of our culturally parched platform Metamusic opted to find the much promised greener grass and graze pastures new. Manchester the epicentre of northern music became our home in October 2008. Turns out it rains a lot.

In 2009 Metamusic compiled their first E.P. ‘Safe Passages to Adulthood’ which represented a pivotal time for our ensemble, not only musically but also on a personal level. It was to become the pinnacle work of our original line-up as in the same year Johnny decided to go back to school. Outlawed to a beat less wilderness the once awesome foursome crossed paths with an outlaw, an alien, a Durhamite. Steve Maloy grew up an hour and a halves drive from Durham, North Carolina. Having developed his technique playing marching snare for the Grandfather Mountain Highland band Steve Maloy made the most amazing replacement for the void that Johnny left.

Since this reformation Metamusic have been working hard on new material and aim to have their first release and follow up tour circulating in 2010.If you like what you hear, or you’re even insulted by it, do not hesitate to contact us.

Nearly there!

In what can only be described as "incredible periods of inactivity" the two naughty boys behind Listen To have finally got their fingers out and created the all new Listen To Manchester. Over the next few months we'll be adding loads of new features, but we'd love your help with the site as it stands right now.

So if you spot any problems, or have anything to say at all about the new site (comments, criticisms, great ideas that we can steal and become millionaires with) then get in touch!
