Bio

Singer songwriter and producer of her own material, you’re listening to the sounds of Maria Marcial (pronounced Mar-see-al) Maria started singing and song writing at a very young age but began her productive musical journey at the age of 16. That journey has seen her become part of an all girl gospel group, lead vocalist for a Hip Hop RnB group and freestyle vocalist for local Drum n Bass DJ’s. She’s been a wedding singer, found her feet as a session singer, completed a music course at college and went on to become a music workshop deliverer, working with young people. It’s hardly surprising then that she’s grown and developed into a very versatile artist. Having worked with so many different musicians and producers over the years, Maria gained a great insight into what she wanted for herself as an artist and although she was grateful for the experiences, she was frustrated by the quality and standard of music being produced. She came to the conclusion that she needed to have more control of the whole music making process, she needed an engineer and a good musician. In 2005 she met Ben Blease, not only a skilled engineer but a talented pianist and guitarist. Maria was blessed with an opportunity to work with Ben the following year and produce her first solo project. In the summer of 2008 Maria featured on a track with Toronto based rapper and singer, Roach killa. Maria wrote the hook for the track ‘Killin Em’ a catchy club banger featured on Roach’s forthcoming album ready to drop this summer.
