Formed in 2006, The Fifths are a young, Manchester-based indie band creating their own, very individual sound. The Fifths’ music, with its stripped-down bluesy riffs and astutely observational lyrics, is the sound of youth in the city. The listener is taken to the heart of Manchester, and the raucous live shows more than live up to the city’s musical heritage. The Fifths, through hard work and not to mention great tunes, have developed a good reputation in Manchester; playing well-known venues such as Manchester Academy 3, the Night and Day and Liverpool Barfly, and a headline slot at Manchester club night Plastic Surgery. They have just come out of the recording studio and now are keen to bring their off-beat sound, and unique take on life further afield. With their style changing rapidly at the moment be sure that their sound is developing into something a little more original than the indie music we are all used to hearing.
